“Gold Rush”

Migliaia di navi portavano uomini e materiali di consumo per la corsa all’oro del 1848 ormeggiate nel porto di San Francisco. La Yankee Clippers come la Black Hawk, , sono state il tipo più comune di navi commerciali di quel  tempo.
La gente veniva da tutto il mondo per diventare ricca in California: in Cina, la California è ancora denominata “La Montagna d’oro”.
Anche se molti non trovarono nulla, altri hanno visto i loro sogni  diventare  realtà. L’ enorme afflusso di persone che cercavano di diventare ricchi per i giacimenti auriferi, insieme con l’aumento della ricchezza per l’oro scoperto, portò grandi cambiamenti nella regione.
Questi cambiamenti sono stati in nessun luogo più evidenti che a San Francisco, qualcuno che aveva visto la città nella sua infanzia nel 1849, sarebbe tornato a trovare una grande metropoli nel 1870.
La città grezza che esisteva nel 1849 era stata spazzata via da fuoco sei volte entro la metà del 1851.
Portate via le macerie bruciate, con mattoni e pietre,  chiese, templi, palazzi e gli edifici commerciali furono creati passando dalle ceneri delle baracche incenerite ad  uno scenario impressionante. Non più un avamposto nel deserto, San Francisco  dal 1851 si affermò come una città moderna.

People came from all over the world to get rich in California:China ,California is still referred to as “The Mountain of Gold”.  Although many found nothing,other saw their dreams become reality.The enormous influx of peoples seeking to become rich from the goldfields,coupled with the surge of wealth from the gold being found,brought big changes to the region. These changes were nowhere more evident then in San Francisco;someone who had seen the City in its infancy in 1849 would return to find a major metropolis in 1870. The crude town that existed in 1849 had been swept away by fire six times by the middle of 1851. Carry away the burnt debris,with brick and stone churches,temples,mansions,and the business buildingswere created,   that rose from the ashes of incinerated shanties made an impressive sight .No longer an outpost in the wilderness,San Francisco  by 1851 established itself as a modern city.
